Centerville Dance Program
The Centerville Dance Program began in the 1960’s with the Coeds as a March & Drill Team alongside the Centerville High School Marching Band. Currently, the Coeds program consist of 6-teams: Varsity, Jr. Varsity, Juniors, Intermediates, Cuties and Minis. The Coeds organization is a dance competition based organization where dancers compete in Pom, Kick, Jazz, & Hip Hop. The Varsity and Junior team is affiliated with the Athletic Boosters Organization, the younger sister teams are under the direction of individual parent boards and their directors. The Coeds program aims to provide dancers within the Centerville community an opportunity to build a strong dance foundation, establish long-lasting friendships, and share in the “Elk Pride” spirit!
In 2006, the Fine Arts curriculum at Centerville High School expanded to include dance. The dance program offers classes to all students, new and experienced dancers. The dance program provides a positive, respectful, & creative atmosphere for all students to develop their dance technique/coordination and freely express themselves through the exploration of movement. Each dance course exposes students to modern, jazz, & ballet technique. The semester culminates in a dance concert in which all enrolled students are required to perform.
