A few answers to common questions and details about the upcoming Centerville Invitational and Nationals event:

Q: What can I do to enhance my dancers experience? Parents are encouraged to work with dancers to ensure they know schedules, have all items needed to feel prepared (water, snacks, hair spray, bobby pins, safety pins, etc.), arrive early and encourage dancers to enjoy the experience.  Also, please encourage your dancer to not share water bottles, lip stick, eye make up, etc.  Thanks!!!!

Q: How can I support the program? Parents are encouraged to become involved, join the boosters, register your Kroger card to support funding efforts and volunteer to help.  If you are unsure as to how to volunteer, see your Director.

Q: Who determines the schedules? Directors for each team determine dance practice schedules and will communicate this information via the web site and team emails.

Q: If I need to pick up my dancer up early from a performance, what should I do?(will not be able to ride the bus home) Dancers who ride the bus to a performance are required to ride the bus home.  When there is an exception that needs to occur, please notify your coach and complete the Alternate Transportation Request Form.

Q: Who plans for hotel rooms during Competition season? Hotel accommodations will be arranged for the dancers on Varsity and Juniors, all other teams and parents are expected to seek individual accommodations.  Our Varsity Team Travel coordinator does share hotel information with everyone, but will not coordinate individual arrangements.

Understand the event: The Centerville Coeds Invitational is Showcase’s oldest and largest competition held in the state of Ohio. This event is a great way for the Coeds to represent our school and our community; it is always very rewarding and the largest fundraiser that benefits each Coeds team.  Event needs all Centerville Coeds parents to support the Invitational on Sunday, February 26, 2017.

It is an expectation, and truly a necessity, for all Varsity Coeds and their families to work the entire day of the invitational. This event could not happen without the help of our sister teams and it is imperative that each Coed family fulfills their obligation.  The obligation could be filled by mom, dad, high school/college sibling, grandparent, or friend.

Varsity Coeds & Parents: Volunteer All Day Coeds Invitational at CHS, Arrival 5:30 am until cleanup is complete (approx. 7:30 PM)

Junior Coeds & Parents:  Volunteer Half Day (2 shifts) Coeds Invitational at CHS (includes: one basket raffle table shift & one 4-hour invitational shift)

Cuties/Elkette Parents:  Volunteer for one 4-hour shift at Coeds Invitational at CHS  

 Volunteer Opportunities

Concessions: Food prep, food servers, cleanup, grillers, cashiers at south cafeteria.

Registration: Register teams/soloists at athletic entrance, and visitor admission at theater entrance

Gift Table: Gift Table sales, runners for dancer gifts and dancer shout-outs

Doors:  Control traffic in/out of main gym (upstairs/downstairs) and back gym during performances, check visitor bracelets, team lineup at team entrance to gym.

Gym(s): Announcers, music table, clock operator, floor sweepers, water table, score runners

Volunteer Signup:

Volunteer Sign-up will be done through SignUp Genius:  www.signupgenius.com.  Our volunteer schedule is being prepared and we plan to activate the signup genius on December 9, 2016 around 6:00 pm.  We will remind everyone as we get closer to going live with the sign-up.

You will receive an email invitation that will allow you access to the volunteer schedule.  You will then choose your shift(s) from the available slots.  We expect this to be a simple signup process and an organized scheduling tool for everyone.

Reporting for Your Shift(s):

On the day of the invitational all volunteers must sign-in with Tracy Oxley at the Gift Table (BOC) 5-minutes before your scheduled time. The volunteers will confirm their work station and be escorted (by a junior coed) to their work area to start their shift.  Please know that depending on the needs of other stations, volunteers might be asked to change positions. All volunteers must wear Black & Gold Elk/Coeds wear (Junior & Varsity parents and Coeds will have Invitational shirts to wear all day of the event).

Please note Varsity Coeds & volunteers must report to the Gift Table at 5:30 am to get ready for the day. Teams and soloists will start arriving shortly after 6 am and we must be ready for their arrival! Coed varsity dancers will have multiple responsibilities throughout the day and at the end of the day will be assigned rooms that must be cleaned.  Varsity dancers will not be dismissed until their rooms have been checked by the invitational coordinator (no one can leave until all rooms have been approved). Keep in mind rooms cannot be cleaned until awards are over. We would like to get everyone out no later than 8 pm.

Q: What are the specifics about this seasons Showcase National Championships held April 7-9, 2017?

Teams Attending:  Varsity, Juniors, Elkettes, & Cuties

Competition Location:  BB&T Arena at Northern Kentucky University, (formerly Bank of Kentucky Center), 500 Nunn Drive, Highland Heights, KY 41099

Competition Schedule:

  • Competition performance schedules will not be available until late March
  • Historically, the SCAU Nationals schedule has been: THIS CAN CHANGE!!!
    • Friday: officer performances, volunteer shifts (varsity and juniors)
    • Saturday: varsity, junior performances
    • Sunday: elementary & primary performances, and Best of the Best (all teams)
  • Coaches will provide your team schedules as soon as possible

Team Hotel:   Hilton Cincinnati Airport, 7373 Turfway Rd, Florence, KY 41042

  • Special SCAU team rate of $129/night (double standard/includes continental breakfast)
  • 12 miles from BB&T Arena
  • Practice/ Hospitality Area
  • Onsite restaurant, indoor pool, internet access, fitness center, free parking

  • Select dates, number of rooms and people, and the link will take you to what is available for the Hilton Coeds room block.
  • IMPORTANT: Please make your reservation as soon as possible. We have rooms for Friday night and Saturday night in the Centerville Coeds room block.   As we get closer to the date, the hotel can allocate unreserved rooms from our block to other guests.
  • Varsity and Junior dancers will be staying in team rooms reserved by the Centerville Coeds board.
    • NOTE to parents of Varsity and Junior dancers: Please do not include your dancer in your hotel reservation
